ButaNexT Workshop: Advanced Product Recovery Workshop

11 May - Mol, Belgium

ButaNexT aims to overcome the technical and economic constraints to the use of biobutanol as an advanced biofuel. Developing new ways to improve butanol productivity is a key part of the equation, and the ButaNexT partners have made significant progress in the areas of strain performance, continuous fermentation and in situ product recovery.

This workshop will place the product intensification approaches investigated in ButaNexT within the broader context of advanced product recovery in biocatalysis, chemistry and pharma.

Mainstreaming resource efficiency in manufacturing value chains

Increasing global consumption and climate change put pressure on our current economic model. Today around 50% of costs in the manufacturing sector are related to raw materials, energy and water used in industrial processes. Optimising the use of resources is therefore one of the main challenges the manufacturing industry is facing today. But improving resource efficiency is not only crucial from an environmental point of view; it also proves highly profitable for the economic competitiveness of manufacturing industries.

SPIRE Process Industry Conference

The Process Industry Conference, a SPIRE mid-term policy event, will take place on 19-20-21 September 2017 and intends to gather all relevant stakeholders for the European Process Industry. Although Brokerage and thematic discussion meetings are reserved for A.SPIRE members (20-21/09), the high-level event on the 19th of September will be open to the public.

World Sustainable Energy Days 2017

The World Sustainable Energy Days (WSED), one of Europe’s largest annual conferences in this field, offer a unique combination of events on sustainable energy. The 2017 conference will take place from 1 - 3 March 2017 in Wels/Austria.

For more than 20 years, experts from all over the world have gathered in Upper Austria to attend the conference - in 2016, the event attracted over 700 participants from 57 countries. The conference makes an important contribution to awareness raising about renewable energy and energy efficiency.

ETFE-MFM at the European Research Conference: Buildings

The ETFE-MFM Project will hold a workshop at the European Research Conference: Buildings during the World Sustainable Energy Days, to be held in Wels, Austria on 1 March 2017. The workshop will cover innovative uses of ETFE as a construction material, and present the development of a new ETFE Multifunctional Module, with integrated solar PV and LEDs for sustainable façade lighting.
