SYNERGY+ aimed at expanding the participation of Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SME) of the Distributed Energy Resources (DER) sector in the 6th and 7th Framework Programmes of the European Commission for Research and Technological Development.

SYNERGY+ was a Specific Support Action under the “Stepping up Economic and Technological Intelligence” (ETI) programme of the European Commission. It was co-financed by the Research and Innovation Programme in FP6. It contributed to reach the European strategic objective of operating a knowledge-based economy.

Within 3,5 years of activity, SYNERGY and SYNERGY+ obtained the following results:

  • 182 SMEs were included in 54 RTD project proposals submitted to the selection by the EC experts;

  • 90 of these SMEs were new comers in European project proposals

  • 68 SMEs have been already selected for funding to date

  • 7 proposals involving 29 SMEs are still under evaluation to date.

  • 40% of success rate (compared to an average 10-15% in FP6)

  • 387 SMEs have been in-depth audited and all of them are already registered in the Web Market Place created by the SYNERGY+ consortium: http://www.synergy-project.org/. This grows up the total number of registered SMEs to 402.

  • 227 SMEs + 133 other organizations have been trained at DER market opportunities and technological trends.

The SYNERGY+ project gathered, in six countries (Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Poland and Spain), all stakeholders required to support highly competitive project proposals: 6 expert organizations in DER technology (5) and markets (1), 5 professional associations & clusters, 6 energy agencies, 3 investors (1 bank, 1 corporate investor, 1 venture capitalist).
