Secretariat of the SmartGrids European Technology Platform for the electricity networks of the future (SmartGrids-ETPS)

The main activity lines of the secretariat are:

•  Support to the main bodies that are part of the internal structure of the SmartGrids European TP: SmartGrids ETP Forum, Working Groups and Mirror Group with the organisation and management of periodic meetings and internal communication exchange.

• Generation of high quality results supporting in the definition, management and development of public results.

• Support in the implementation of a communication strategy based around an information centre (public internet site), international conferences, newsletters, participation in other conferences and direct cooperation with the European Commission.

•   Implementing monitoring activities and quality control reviews of platform activities and results. The consortium for this project comprises three complementary partners uniting all necessary skills to achieve the objective

Results:

• The ETP SmartGrids has delivered expected outcomes, the main ones: Vision, Strategic Research Agenda, and Strategic Deployment Document.
• Two General Assemblies have been organised and one more will be organised this year.
• Reorganisation of Working Groups adapted to the needs of stakeholders and EU scene.
• Update of Strategic Research Agenda in 2011.

Impact:

• The ETP and Secretariat fostered several spin-off initiatives, including the launching of an ERA-NET project in SmartGrids.
• Important contributions to the European Electricity Grids Initiative development and links to other SET-Plan Initiatives
