LCA Handbook

The EC has published an LCA handbook with the aim to support businesses and policy makers with technical tools focusing on LCA methods for products and services. 

The handbook is titled, “The International Reference Life Cycle Data System (ILCD) Handbook” and it aims to provide governments and businesses with a basis for quality assurance and consistency of life cycle data, methods and assessments.

The handbook consists of a set of documents, with a general guide as well as detailed technical series reports.  

As stated in the Handbook:  “This document provides technical guidance for detailed Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies and provides the technical basis to derive product-specific criteria, guides, and simplified tools. The principle target audience for this guide is the LCA practitioner as well as technical experts in the public and private sector dealing with environmental decision support related to products, resources, and waste management.”
