The European IMP³rove project has developed an innovation management toolkit for SMEs around a benchmark assessment of a company’s innovation performance. The methodology is based mainly on the ‘stage gate’ innovation management approach which was adapted as far as possible to the needs of small and medium sized companies. The project had been co-ordinated by A. T. Kearney while the involved Greenovate! Europe members have performed real life tests of the approach with nearly 1000 industrial companies across Europe. The innovation management of each of these companies was analysed based on the benchmar results and Greenovate! Europe partners provided support through personal consulting workshops in each of these companies with convincing successes.
